Chili

This recipe is so simple and is perfect for this fall weather. I used beef but you can turkey instead if you prefer.

 

INGREDIENTS for chili: 

- 1 pound ground beef (you could use turkey instead if you prefer) 

- cooking oil 

- 1 yellow onion diced

- 3 carrots diced

- 5 cloves garlic minced 

- 2 and 1/2 tablespoons chili powder 

- 2 tablespoons cumin 

- 2 tablespoons sugar 

- 2 tablespoons tomato paste 

- salt and pepper for taste 

- 1 and 1/2 cup beef broth 

- 15 oz diced canned tomatoes 

- 15 oz tomato sauce 

- 15 oz kidney beans drained and rinsed 

 

INGREDIENTS for toppings:

- sour cream 

- shredded cheddar cheese 

- green onion minced 

- cilantro minced

- jalapeños sliced 

 

INSTRUCTIONS: 

1. In a large pot add oil, carrots and onions. Cook for 5 minutes. 

2. Add ground beef, separate meat and cook until brown. 

3. Add garlic, chili powder, cumin, sugar, tomato paste, salt and pepper. Stir all together throughly. 

4. Add beef broth, diced tomatoes (with the juice) tomato sauce and kidney beans. Stir well. 

5. Turn to simmer for 20-25 minutes. 

6. Serve and add toppings to your liking.
